We are Geologists

Today we began our latest and most exciting unit. We are very exited to begin studying the Earth! During this unit, we will study rocks and minerals. We will be learning geologists as we excavate chocolate chips from cookies, grow our own rocks, and learn scientific words! We will also study how we can take care of our Earth as we look at what the Earth is made up of! Follow us on our learning journey! Rock on everybody!!

Here are some pictures of our exciting Rock Stations! A big thank you to Ms. Fedorus for coming to help us learn!
Using the proscope!
We have a few new pet Rocks! Can you find yours?
We used illuminated microscopes and magnifying glasses too!
Ma'Moon made a pet rock!
Lily did too!
Ms. Fedorus led a very scientific rock analysis! It was wet and colourful!
Sorting by Colors! Ask your child what happened when the rocks got wet!
Mrs. Varley helped us sort rocks by size!
So much to see and do!

A Snowman Birthday

We had so much fun celebrating a Snowman Birthday at the end of January! We ate snowman snacks, presented snowman gifts, decorated real "live" snowmen, and made snow in the class! It was a Grade 1 Adventure!!!
Snowmen Presents:
Snowman hair...
A Hug!
Mittens and the perfect nose!
Popsicles to keep you sweet and cold!

Snowman Treats:

Do You Want to Build a Snowman?
Snowman Greatness!
Thanks for keeping the cold outside and the warm fun indoors! It was the perfect day for an indoor snowman birthday!

Centers

Sorry for the slow posts lately! Here is my attempt to catch everyone up on all of the Grade 1 awesomeness that's been happening in Room A lately!

Here are a few pictures of the weekly centers we've been fortunate to run in class! We would love to recruit a few dads for some "daddy duty"! Calling any dads for a Dazzling Dad center day!!!

Thanks to everyone who makes these days possible!!!

100th Day

We celebrated the 100th day of school on Monday! We kept very busy with our wonderful center volunteers! We stamped 100 stamps, counted 100 snacks, wrote numbers to 100, bingo dabbed 100 chicken pox, drew pictures of ourselves at 100 years old, ran 100 laps of the gym (as a class), and had more than 100 laughs! It was 100 times the fun!

We love our EAs!!

We sure missed Mrs. Varley while she was away. We couldn't have been any happier to have her back today!  In an attempt to welcome her back to class, we played a little trick on her and asked her to read the FUNNIEST BOOK EVER! She had us all laughing one of those good ole belly laughs!

It's so nice to have all of my little chicks back in the class! They sure worked hard today!
